How it works

  • Enroll online

  • Submit documents

We will request documents to be submitted by you and your healthcare provider that are required by the pharmaceutical company to complete your enrollment.

What is Zioptan?

Zioptan is a prescription eye-drop medication given to adults to reduce high pressure in the eyes (intraocular pressure) caused by either ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.

You typically drop Zioptan into your eyes once a day in the evening, although make sure you always take your Zioptan exactly as directed by your prescribing doctor. Zioptan begins to work within 2 to 4 hours of using it, with the medication working at its optimum level after around 12 hours.

Zioptan active ingredients

The active ingredient in Zioptan is called tafluprost. It belongs to a class of drugs called prostaglandin analogs. When you drop Zioptan onto your eye, the tafluprost it contains is absorbed through your cornea (the front of your eye), where it begins to work. Tafluprost then attaches to the surface of certain cells in your eye at locations called prostaglandin receptors. This stimulates the receptors, causing them to increase the rate at which aqueous humor drains out of the eye.
