Am I eligible for Yervoy patient assistance?

We review each Yervoy enrollment application individually to determine if you are eligible. Each assistance program has its own eligibility criteria and the factors considered by most programs are:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico

How do I apply for the Yervoy patient assistance program?

Our process makes it as easy as possible to apply for the Yervoy patient assistance program. Begin by completing the enrollment application form on our website. This information is required by the pharmaceutical manufacturers who will supply the medication, so it is important to make sure this information is accurate and up to date.

We will review the information that you have provided to determine whether you are eligible for patient assistance. If we can pre-qualify you for assistance, NiceRx will handle the full enrollment process on your behalf. If you are approved by the pharmaceutical company, you will typically start receiving your medication in 6 – 8 weeks.

What is Yervoy?

Yervoy is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Bristol Myers Squibb. It is a type of cancer treatment called immunotherapy and affects the immune system. Ipilimumab increases the quantity and the activity of a white blood cell called T cells. T cells form part of the immune system helping to kill cancer cells.

Yervoy is a human cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4)-blocking antibody indicated for:

  • Treatment of unresectable or metastatic melanoma in adults and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older
  • Adjuvant treatment of patients with cutaneous melanoma (a type of skin cancer) with pathologic involvement of regional lymph nodes of more than 1 mm who have undergone complete resection, including total lymphadenectomy
  • Treatment of patients with intermediate or poor risk, previously untreated advanced renal cell carcinoma, in combination with nivolumab
  • In combination with Opdivo for first-line treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in adults whose tumors express the PD-L1 protein but not any mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) or anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) genes

The FDA has also granted Yervoy accelerated approval to treat certain forms of colorectal cancer.

Yervoy can result in severe and fatal immune-mediated adverse reactions. Permanently discontinue treatment and initiate systemic high-dose corticosteroid therapy. You should be assessed for signs and symptoms of enterocolitis, dermatitis, neuropathy, and endocrinopathy and be evaluated for clinical chemistries including liver function tests, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) level, and thyroid function tests at baseline before each dose.
