Is Prescription Care considered a Vytorin coupon?

The Vytorin patient assistance program offered to eligible enrollees through Prescription Care is not a coupon, generic Vytorin, or a discount card. Prescription Care does not offer printable coupons, rebates, savings cards, trial offers, or free samples.

If you are looking for a Vytorin coupon, keep in mind that you can likely save more on the medication via Prescription Care. When obtaining your Vytorin medication via Prescription Care, your total cost for the medication will never be more than $49 per month.

What is Vytorin prescribed for?

Vytorin is indicated for the treatment of primary or mixed hyperlipidemia. Vytorin may also be prescribed to patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia.

Along with a low-fat diet and other treatments (such as a physical exercise program, smoking cessation, or lipoprotein apheresis), Vytorin is prescribed to adults and children who are at least 10 years old.

The medication should not be used by pregnant women as it can cause birth defects.

Active Ingredient

Vytorin is a combination of two substances: ezetimibe and simvastatin.

Ezetimibe works by reducing the amount of cholesterol absorbed by the body. Simvastatin helps to lower cholesterol levels by blocking a cholesterol-producing enzyme.

Conditions treated by Vytorin

Hyperlipidemia

Hyperlipidemia (also called high cholesterol) is a medical term that refers to abnormally high levels of lipids (cholesterol, fats, and triglycerides) in the blood. These lipids can enter the arteries and cause them to harden, significantly increasing the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.

As high cholesterol itself doesn’t present any symptoms, the only way to detect hyperlipidemia is by carrying out a blood test. Risk factors that can contribute to the condition include diabetes, physical inactivity, age, poor diet, and smoking.

If left untreated, high cholesterol can lead to serious health complications such as atherosclerosis, stroke, and heart attack. The main treatment requires making lifestyle changes such as eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly. If these lifestyle changes do not help lower your cholesterol, you may require further medical treatment.

Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HoFH)

Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) is a rare condition which makes it difficult for the body to remove low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL “bad” cholesterol) from the blood. When levels of “bad” cholesterol are too high, cholesterol builds up in the arteries, which can block them and stop the blood and oxygen flow to the heart.

HoFH is an inherited disorder. It is typically diagnosed with a physical exam and a blood test. The main symptom is abnormally high levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. Additional symptoms may include yellow, waxy patches on the elbows, knees, and buttocks.

There is no known cure for HoFH, but medications – along with a heart-healthy diet – can help manage and control the condition.

*Qualifying persons may obtain medications directly from patient assistance programs without any out-of-pocket cost (or for less than $49 per medication). However, our monthly flat rate of just $49 per medication spares you the hassle of tracking down the different programs and filling out all the required paperwork for each program.

Enrollees enjoy a full-service solution, as Prescription Care assists them and their physicians with the entire process. We prepare all required documents for the physician to sign, help enrollees manage all prescription refills, monitor eligibility criteria, and maintain enrollment.

**If you do not receive medications because you were determined to be ineligible for the prescription assistance by the applicable pharmaceutical companies and you have a letter of denial, we will refund any fees you paid toward medications for which you did not qualify to receive prescription assistance (Refund).

To receive a Refund, you must send the letter of denial to us by fax to 866-262-2603, or by e-mail to [email protected] within 30 days of your receipt of such letter. The Refund is your sole and exclusive remedy for any fees you may wish to dispute.
