What is Vimovo prescribed for?

Vimovo is prescribed to patients with any of the following chronic inflammatory diseases: rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Vimovo is prescribed to patients who have a high risk of developing stomach ulcers. The medication helps to reduce inflammation, pain, and long-term damage to bones.

Active Ingredient

Vimovo contains two active ingredients: naproxen and esomeprazole magnesium. Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication which reduces pain, swelling, and joint stiffness. Esomeprazole magnesium is a proton pump inhibitor and blocks the production of acid in the stomach.

Conditions treated by Vimovo

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder which manifests in swelling, pain, and the eventual deformity and erosion of bones. This condition may also manifest in eye, skin, lung, and blood vessel damage.

Patients experience these symptoms when their immune system mistakenly attacks the lining of joints and other tissues in the body. There is no known cure for rheumatoid arthritis. However, it is possible to manage negative symptoms successfully, especially with early treatment.

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis caused by the wearing of protective cartilage at the ends of the joints. Symptoms can include pain, tenderness, stiffness, and a grating sensation when a joint is used. Hands, knees, hips, and the spine are most commonly affected.

Ankylosing Spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of arthritis that affects the vertebrae of the spine, causing chronic discomfort and severe pain. The shoulders, hips, ribs, heels, and small joints of the hands and feet can also be affected. In some patients, this inflammatory disease causes eye problems known as uveitis.

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is the most common type of arthritis in children. The cause of the condition is not known. Symptoms can include inflammation of the fingers and hands. Some children also experience inflammation in the weight-bearing joints and the jaw.

*Qualifying persons may obtain medications directly from patient assistance programs without any out-of-pocket cost (or for less than $49 per medication). However, our monthly flat rate of just $49 per medication spares you the hassle of tracking down the different programs and filling out all the required paperwork for each program.

Enrollees enjoy a full-service solution, as Prescription Care assists them and their physicians with the entire process. We prepare all required documents for the physician to sign, help enrollees manage all prescription refills, monitor eligibility criteria, and maintain enrollment.

**If you do not receive medications because you were determined to be ineligible for the prescription assistance by the applicable pharmaceutical companies and you have a letter of denial, we will refund any fees you paid toward medications for which you did not qualify to receive prescription assistance (Refund).

To receive a Refund, you must send the letter of denial to us by fax to 866-262-2603, or by e-mail to [email protected] within 30 days of your receipt of such letter. The Refund is your sole and exclusive remedy for any fees you may wish to dispute.
