Is Prescription Care a Tobi coupon provider?

We don’t offer printable Tobi manufacturer coupons, Tobi discounts, rebates, Tobi savings cards, trial offers, or free Tobi samples. Nor are we a Tobi coupon, a Tobi discount card, or a Tobi copay card.

We are a service provider that helps eligible individuals access the Tobi patient assistance program. For those that access their medication in this way, the total cost will always be $49 per month. This is likely to be much less than coupons for Tobi or cheap Tobi.

Can Prescription Care help me get Tobi if I have insurance?

We may be able to help if your insurance company won’t pay for your Tobi medication, or you have a high copay or coinsurance responsibility. In some instances, we may even be able to assist you if you don’t have insurance.

How much is Tobi with insurance?

The cost of Tobi with insurance will depend on the details of your healthcare plan. If you need to find out, your healthcare provider or pharmacist will be able to calculate your copay with your current insurance. Remember, if you’re approved for assistance, you’ll likely save more if you get your Tobi medication through Prescription Care.

How much is Tobi without insurance?

Tobi prices without insurance will vary depending on whether you buy the medication as a solution to be used with a nebulizer, or as capsules to be used with the Tobi Podhaler. It will also vary depending on how many capsules are in the pack, and where you buy your medication from.

As a general guide, you can expect to pay around $7,700 for a 280 ml pack of nebulizer solution. For a pack of 224 Tobi Podhaler capsules, you can expect to pay over $10,000. Remember, with Prescription Care you only ever pay a flat monthly fee of $49.

What is Tobi?

Tobi is a prescription antibiotic. It’s used to treat chest infections caused by the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa in people who have cystic fibrosis. The medication can be used by people six years and over.

Cystic fibrosis is a disease that affects certain organs of your body, like your pancreas, liver, kidneys, intestines, and lungs. It’s caused by inheriting two copies of a gene, one from each parent, that have the same mutation. The condition causes your organs to produce fluids, like sweat, digestive fluids, and mucus, that are too thick. This can lead to a range of serious health problems. In your lungs, a buildup of mucus can cause inflammation and infections which can damage your lungs and reduce their function over time.

The Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria is one of the most damaging infections for people with cystic fibrosis. It will continue to cause damage to the lungs if left untreated. Tobi helps with this by targeting and killing Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria, clearing infections up faster, and reducing the damage they can cause. To get Tobi directly into your lungs and airways it has to be inhaled through your mouth. This can either be done using Tobi solution with a nebulizer or by using a pocket-sized disposable inhaler called the Tobi Podhaler.

Tobi active ingredients

The active ingredient in Tobi is called tobramycin. Tobramycin is a type of antibiotic called an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It kills Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria by attaching itself to the bacteria and blocking an important internal process (protein synthesis). This stops the bacteria from producing the molecules they need to live and reproduce, killing them and halting the spread of the infection.

Tobi side effects & Tobi drug interactions

Unfortunately, Tobi can cause side effects. These vary from person to person, with some people not experiencing any at all, while others may suffer more acute side effects. The side effects caused most often by Tobi, include a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, a discoloration of the sputum you cough up, a hoarse voice, a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, muscle pain, and generally feeling unwell.

Tobi is a safe drug for most people to use, and most of the side effects it can cause are mild to moderate. In rare cases it can cause more serious side effects though. If you experience chest tightness and difficulty breathing, a loss or changes to your hearing, or symptoms of an allergic reaction like hives, swelling of your throat or face, stop taking Tobi and seek medical attention immediately.

Tobi can interact with other medications. This can alter how Tobi and the other medications work and can make some side effects more likely. Drugs that are known or thought to interact with Tobi include:

  • Furosemide or ethacrynic acid diuretics
  • Urea or intravenous mannitol
  • Medicines that can harm your nervous system, kidneys, or your hearing
  • Platinum compounds, like carboplatin or cisplatin
  • Botulinum toxin (botox)
  • Anticholinesterases, like neostigmine or pyridostigmine
  • The antifungal medication amphotericin B
  • The antibiotics cefalotin and polymyxins
  • The immunosuppressants cyclosporin and tacrolimus

It’s important to tell your prescribing physician about all drugs you’re taking, including vitamins and dietary supplements. If you’re unsure, take the packaging of all your medication and supplements to your physician.
