Am I eligible for Naglazyme patient assistance?

We review each Naglazyme enrollment application individually to determine if you are eligible. Each assistance program has its own eligibility criteria and the factors considered by most programs are:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for the Naglazyme patient assistance program?

Our process makes it as easy as possible to apply for the Naglazyme patient assistance program. Begin by completing the enrollment application form on our website. Tell us about any medications that you are taking, including Naglazyme. You must also provide details about your healthcare provider, your insurance plan, and your household income. This is required by the pharmaceutical manufacturers who will supply the medication, so it is important to make sure this information is accurate and up to date.

We will review the information that you have provided to determine whether you are eligible for patient assistance. If we can pre-qualify you for assistance, NiceRx will handle the full enrollment process on your behalf. If you are approved by the pharmaceutical company, you will typically start receiving your medication in 6 – 8 weeks.

What is Naglazyme?

Naglazyme contains the prescription medicine galsulfase, which is a recombinant purified human enzyme. Galsulfase is normally found in the body, but some people can lack this enzyme because of a genetic disorder. Galsulfase is used in these people to help replace this missing enzyme.

Naglazyme is used for the treatment of the genetic condition known as mucopolysaccharidosis VI (MPS VI), also called Maroteaux-Lamy syndrome. MPS VI is a metabolic disorder in the body, where the body lacks the enzyme needed to break down certain natural substances. These substances can build up in your body, causing problems, such as enlarged organs, abnormal bone structure, changes in your facial features, breathing and heart problems, vision or hearing impairment, and changes in your mental or physical abilities. Naglazyme has been shown to improve walking and stair-climbing ability but is not however a cure for MPS VI.

Naglazyme active ingredients

MPS VI occurs when a specific enzyme is missing in your body. A lack of this enzyme causes levels of dermatan sulfate to build up in your body. This build-up leads to widespread dysfunction of cells, tissue, and organs in your body. Naglazyme increases the breakdown of dermatan sulfate by binding to specific mannose-6-phosphate receptors.

Naglazyme is given as an infusion directly into a vein, normally once per week. The injection will be given to you by a healthcare professional. Naglazyme must be given slowly. The infusion can take up to 4 hours to complete. You may be given other medications to help prevent a serious allergic reaction, 30 to 60 minutes before each injection. Tell your doctor if you have been unwell with a fever or cold. If you have, you may need to wait until you get better before having your dose of Naglazyme. Your progress will be checked on a regular basis by your doctor while you are using this medication.
