Your monthly Actimmune cost savings if eligible

If you are eligible for the Actimmune patient assistance program you can receive your medication for free. Our monthly service fee of $49 per medication covers the cost of our services in applying for the program and requesting your ongoing refills on your behalf. If you obtain your Actimmune through NiceRx, you will only pay $49 a month regardless of the retail price of your medication.

Am I eligible for the Actimmune patient assistance program?

You could receive your Actimmune without paying the full retail price if you meet the eligibility criteria for assistance. The eligibility requirements are set by the pharmaceutical companies that are providing assistance programs. At NiceRx, we review each application individually, although the main factors considered by most programs are:

  • I am a permanent, legal resident of the United States or Puerto Rico
  • I am uninsured or my insurance doesn’t cover my medication
  • I meet certain income eligibility requirements

How do I apply for Actimmune patient assistance?

We do everything that we can to take the hassle and stress out of applying for patient assistance programs. Simply start by filling in our enrollment application. We will ask for details about your healthcare provider, your insurance, and your household income. This information is required by the pharmaceutical companies you are applying to for assistance. We may also be able to help you access patient assistance for other medications that you have been prescribed, so be sure to tell us about any medications you are taking as well as Actimmune.

NiceRx will review the information you have provided, and if we determine that you may be eligible for assistance, we will seek to enroll you in the Actimmune patient assistance program. We will handle the enrollment process for you by working with your healthcare provider and preparing all the required paperwork for your doctor to sign. We will also request your Actimmune medication refills on your behalf for up to 1 year once you are enrolled in the program.

Is NiceRx an Actimmune coupons provider?

At NiceRx, we help eligible individuals access the Actimmune patient assistance program. This means that we are not an Actimmune coupon, an Actimmune discount card, or an Actimmune copay card provider. We do not offer any medication trial offers or free Actimmune samples.

How much does Actimmune cost with insurance?

The copay of Actimmune will vary in line with the specific terms of your healthcare plan. For further details about what you may need to pay, your insurance provider or pharmacist will be able to calculate the copay costs with your current insurance.

What is Actimmune?

Actimmune is an FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved medication manufactured by Horizon Pharma Ireland Ltd. Actimmune is an interferon-gamma indicated for:

  • Reducing the frequency and severity of serious infections associated with Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD)
  • Delaying time to disease progression in patients with severe, malignant osteopetrosis (SMO)

CGD is a genetic disorder, usually diagnosed in childhood. It affects some cells of the immune system and your body’s ability to fight infections effectively.

What doses of Actimmune are available?

Actimmune is available in injection form, in the following doses: 100 mcg (2 million International Units) of Interferon gamma-1b in 0.5 mL solution in a single-use vial.

Actimmune therapy is for subcutaneous use only. Monitor hematology, blood chemistries, and urinalysis before beginning treatment and at 3-month intervals. If severe reactions occur, reduce the dose by 50 percent or discontinue therapy until the adverse reaction stops.

Follow all directions on your prescription label for additional information. Do not use this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Always speak with your caregiver for medical advice or about any changes to your dose so they can monitor and evaluate your condition.

Actimmune active ingredients

Actimmune contains Interferon gamma-1b as the active ingredient.

Actimmune side effects

The most common side effects of Actimmune in clinical trials include:

  • Flu-like symptoms such as headache, tiredness, fever, chills, and myalgia
  • Injection site erythema or tenderness
  • Diarrhea

In rare instances, Actimmune can cause more serious side effects. These can include:

  • Cardiovascular disorders
  • Neurologic disorders – reduce the dose or discontinue if decreased mental status, gait disturbance, dizziness occur
  • Bone marrow toxicity – monitor for neutropenia and thrombocytopenia particularly when administering in combination with other potentially myelosuppressive agents
  • Hepatic toxicity – reduce the dose or discontinue to reverse severe elevations of aspartate transaminase (AST) and/or alanine transaminase (ALT). Monitor liver function monthly in patients less than 1-year-old
  • Hypersensitivity reactions – discontinue and institute appropriate medical therapy
  • Renal toxicity – monitor renal function regularly if you have severe renal insufficiency

Actimmune drug interactions

Actimmune can interact with other medications. These include:

  • Neurotoxic, hepatotoxic, or cardiotoxic effects may increase the toxicity of interferons
  • Other heterologous serum protein or immunological preparations (e.g., vaccines)

This list is not exhaustive and other prescription drugs may interact with Actimmune.

Actimmune contraindications

You should not use Actimmune if you:

  • Are allergic to the active ingredient interferon gamma-1b
  • Have had an allergic reaction to any of the other ingredients in Actimmune
  • Have known hypersensitivity to E. coli derived products
  • Are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed

Talk to your doctor before using Actimmune if you:

  • Are taking any of the medications that could interact with Actimmune
  • Are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant
  • Have kidney or liver disease
  • Have pre-existing cardiac conditions such as heart rhythm problems, congestive heart failure, a history of transient ischemic attacks, including “mini-stroke”
  • Have a nerve-muscle disorder
  • Have bone marrow suppression
  • Have a history of seizures
  • Have a rubber allergy

Actimmune generic

Actimmune is the trademark brand name for interferon gamma-1b manufactured by Horizon Pharma Ireland Ltd. A generic version of interferon gamma-1b is not available. Generic drugs are generally cheaper than brand-name drugs, but you can still find Actimmune savings through NiceRx.
